Best locations

It is in this unique environment where we are going to carry out our photographic event, carefully selecting the best photographic locations for the enjoyment of the attendees.

Volcanic coast locations, salt marshes, peculiar vineyards, red mountains, or specific places to take deep sky photography provide the Canarian Photo Week 2023 with an incredible creative diversity.

Timanfaya National Park

Born after the violent volcanic eruptions that hit the south of Lanzarote between 1730 and 1736, which created the Timanfaya National Park. The Montañas del Fuego (Fire Mountains) possess the beauty of desolation and give a symphony of ocher colors that does not leave us indifferent. The viewer feels small by a stunning and living work of art.

We will travel aboard specially equipped vehicles the Route of the Volcanoes to offer a unique experience among some of the natural wonders that this unique moonscape hides. Additionally, we will access normally restricted spaces during the visit of the Route of the Volcanoes.

Given the high quality of the photographers we have and the strong commitment to promoting  the values of Sustainability and Respect for Nature, the Park has issued an Special Authorisation to visit it when the light is at its best and with flexibility to take the best possible images. This Location is the most impresive one with many different possibilities. Every participant will have the opportunity to assist to a Sunrise and a Sunset workshops here.

Agriculture in La Geria

The vineyards that sprouted from the fire, La Geria

La Geria is an area of Lanzarote island known for the uniqueness of its volcanic landscape.

It was used for planting vines and is one of the most characteristic, photogenic, and unique agricultural landscapes of Lanzarote and the Canary Archipelago.

Declared as a protected landscape in 1994, it was in 1987 when it obtained its first recognition, being declared a Natural Park.

Janubio Salt marshes

The Janubio salt marshes are the largest in the Canary Islands and constitute a human landscape of high architectural and cultural value. Nowadays they continue to produce the white gold which was essential for the island’s economy until not many decades ago.

They are located in a lagoon made by volcanic eruptions, creating a lava barrier facing the sea and declared as a site of scientific interest due to the presence of migratory birds.

We will visit them at sunset, when the sun shines on the ponds where the water evaporates and produces a play of shades and colors of enormous beauty, irresistible to the camera lens.

Montaña Colorada (Red mountain)

Montaña Colorada is the last volcano that erupted in the 18th century on the island of Lanzarote. For landscape photographers, it is in the top 5 of mountains to photograph on the islands, its reddish tones contrast with the rest of the landscape, providing a lot of play to our photographs.

A very easily accessible location which we can enjoy both at sunrise and sunset.

The Hervideros

If you thought that basalt columns could only be seen in Iceland, you were wrong!

The Hervideros area is made up of a multitude of basalt columns struck by the blue sea, foam and sunset.

Could you ask for more?

Bermeja mountain and Green Puddle

A beautiful coastal lagoon included in the natural park of the volcanoes, its green tones contrast with the warm ones of the sandstone that surrounds them and the reds of the nearby Clicos viewpoint.

One of the most photographed locations (Spots) on the island. Shall we do our own version?

Volcán El Cuervo (The Raven Volcano)

A volcano crater in an arid rocky area, with a circular route dotted with locations to frame the photographs.

The rough volcanic terrain that surrounds it, craves impossible shapes with which we can compose our pictures.

Roca naranja y La Laguna

Orange Rock and the Lagoon

Whenever we approach this side of the island, we are spellbound by the contrast that this location offers us. Surrounded by volcanic terrain, it emerges triangular so that we can compose our photographs from countless angles.

We will take advantage with no doubt of it at sunset, emphasizing its color with sunsets.

Playa Famara

Playa Famara is considered one of the best and wildest beaches in Lanzarote, surrounded by dunes with incredible textures, it offers us a multitude of photographic corners in more than 6 km in length. Dunes, stones and reflections will delight photographers.

Playa Famara is one of the locations of the Canarian Photo Week

Evidently we cannot forget many other locations such as the Hércules Arch, the Cocoteros Salt mashes or the northern beach of Orzola. Places that we will enjoy certainly during the Canarian Photo Week and which we will tell you about on our social media.
